Born and raised in the Bay Area, George started working summers for his dad’s construction business at the age of 13 and never looked back. He worked his way through the ranks, eventually managing the firm’s production and sales.
After getting his contractor’s license in 1979, George took over the firm a year later and expanded the company’s service offerings to include commercial and residential design/build work.
George’s lifelong immersion in the construction industry has given him a deep understanding of what makes a construction project successful from start to completion. His observations and expertise led to the development of the Gayler Process—a highly efficient design-build system that has resulted in award-winning projects and an outstanding record of on-time, on-budget residential and commercial construction.
George is a certified Green Builder, and working with Darlene, he put together a community solar program, negotiating affordable solar installations with a local solar company for Contra County residents and promoting the program throughout the county. The solar company, SolarCity, identified the project as the most successful community program in their history.
When he’s not on the ground managing Gayler Design Build, George is up in the air, flying his Beech Bonanza A36 airplane or enjoying scuba diving, golf, boating and snow skiing with his wife, Darlene. The couple also likes to travel and spend time at their Groveland cabin with their kids and grandkids.
George is a longtime Rotarian and a member of the Danville Chamber of Commerce.
Darlene and George married in 1980 and live in Alamo.
