Born and raised in the Bay Area, George started working summers for his dad’s construction business at the age of 13 and never looked back. He worked his way through the ranks, eventually managing the firm’s production and sales.

After getting his contractor’s license in 1979, George took over the firm a year later and expanded the company’s service offerings to include commercial and residential design/build work.

George’s lifelong immersion in the construction industry has given him a deep understanding of what makes a construction project successful from start to completion. His observations and expertise led to the development of the Gayler Process—a highly efficient design-build system that has resulted in award-winning projects and an outstanding record of on-time, on-budget residential and commercial construction.

George is a certified Green Builder, and working with Darlene, he put together a community solar program, negotiating affordable solar installations with a local solar company for Contra County residents and promoting the program throughout the county. The solar company, SolarCity, identified the project as the most successful community program in their history.

When he’s not on the ground managing Gayler Design Build, George is up in the air, flying his Beech Bonanza A36 airplane or enjoying scuba diving, golf, boating and snow skiing with his wife, Darlene. The couple also likes to travel and spend time at their Groveland cabin with their kids and grandkids.

George is a longtime Rotarian and a member of the Danville Chamber of Commerce.

Darlene and George married in 1980 and live in Alamo.

“It began during our first meeting with George in our attempt to update two 1970’s style bathrooms and his subsequent plan design that we could never have imagined. We even gained the walk-in closet we thought was not possible given the limitations of the house. We absolutely love the new hall and master bathrooms, and actually had one neighbor want a duplicate plan for their home.” — Jim and Melissa D., Danville

“Kudos to George, again, for being so honest about actually replacing the existing pool walls, concrete pads, and decking. He matched our desire to update with the reality of this not being our dream/forever home and helped guide us to a reasonable and economical outcome.” — Jim and Melissa D., Danville
