A California native, Darlene attended Chabot College and Cal State Hayward. She graduated with an RN degree and worked as a Registered Nurse in ICU/CCU for 8 years. She left the health care industry to work in medical equipment sales, and then started her own company doing sales and marketing. After ten years, she decided to pursue her creative passion for design-build, and closed her business to join George as a partner at Gayler Design Build, formerly Gayler Construction.
With her move in 2000 to Gayler Design Build, Darlene became part of an elite group of women managers in the construction industry. In addition to working with George on sales, she manages client relations, marketing and community outreach. She is also a driving force behind the company’s green building initiatives. Darlene is a co-founder of Sustainable Danville Area, a local resource that shares information about sustainable practices and supports community efforts such as a clean water program, bike racks and community gardens. Darlene is a past Board Member for the Danville Chamber of Commerce, and an honorary Rotarian.
Darlene “works for travel” and has been traveling the world since she was a child. She also enjoys golf, boating, snow skiing, reading, exercising and spending time with her grandsons.
