Since 2012 The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) has published a survey asking remodelers across the country to rate the reasons why customers want to remodel. The desire for new and better amenities has consistently been the top reason followed by the need to repair/replace old components and the desire/need for more space. NAHB’s 2016 report also cited a significant shift in homeowners’ preferences, particularly ‘increasing the value of their home as an investment’ and ‘desire to age in place’.
